• The Yachad Social Work Internship Program offers students a comprehensive, hands-on experience in social work, specifically within the realm of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Our program provides interns with direct interaction with participants and their families, clinical training, supervision, and educational enrichment opportunities. Interns will gain experience in conducting intakes, running group sessions, facilitating one-on-one meetings, and working collaboratively with various professionals.

  •  Yachad Summer Programs Department

    Location: 40 Rector Street, Manhattan
    Schedule: 3 full days per week onsite, with the possibility of 1 remote day
    Responsibilities:
    Conduct comprehensive intakes with participants and their families
    Participate in school visits and enrichment opportunities
    Gain exposure to behavioral and clinical observations
    Attend educational seminars and professional development sessions

     

    JUF Brooklyn Day Hab

    Location: 1122 Coney Island Avenue
    Positions Available: 5-6 interns (preference for 3 full days per week, but part-time options available)
    Responsibilities:
    Run 1-3 group sessions per week
    Provide 1:1 support to 3-5 individuals
    Accompany participants on community outings
    Assist with job coaching
    Complete clinical progress notes and electronic documentation
    Participate in both group and individual supervision sessions

     

    JUF Long Island Day Hab

    Location: 410 Hungry Harbor Rd, Valley Stream, NY
    Positions Available: 4-5 interns (21 hours weekly)
    Responsibilities:
    Conduct individual and group meetings
    Lead workshops and facilitate group activities
    Support program participants alongside Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
    Ensure smooth program operations

     

    JUF NJ

    Location: 259 Cedar Lane, Teaneck, NJ
    Positions Available: Flexible for first- and second-year social work students
    Schedule: Minimum of 2 full days per week
    Responsibilities:
    Become certified as a DSP (required for Medicaid-funded programming)
    Write DSP notes and facilitate access to programming
    Run small groups and manage a caseload of 5-6 participants
    Participate in both group and individual supervision

     

    IVDU 5T

    Location: 410 Hungry Harbor Road, North Woodmere
    Positions Available: 1 intern
    Schedule: 2-3 days per week, minimum 4-5 hours per day
    Responsibilities:
    Work closely with the school psychologist
    Conduct individual and group social skills classes
    Research programs to support students and families
    Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and principals
    Full school-year commitment (September - May/June) required

    Push Ins at recess and lunch

    Social skills group workshops within the classroom
    Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
    Community outreach to help find resources for students and families.
    Periodic individual counseling sessions with students
    Assistance with social emotional regulation within the classroom setting

     

    Yachad Toronto

    Location of Internship: 205 Wilmington Ave., Toronto Ontario Canada 

    Positions Available: 2 interns 
    Schedule:  3/4 days a week 

    The intern of the Toronto Chapter will play a key role in supporting the delivery of programs and services. The responsibilities will include participating in intakes with new participants, contributing to program development, and supporting participants in various activities throughout the week. Additional responsibilities will include leading circle time activities, teaching life skills through engaging methods, and serving as an advisor to participants during Shabbatonim. Administrative tasks will also be a part of the role, including program setup and cleanup, data entry, scheduling, and communication with colleagues, as well as creating engaging visual materials using Canva and Yachad templates. Weekend and evening hours required.

     

    Yachad New England

    The social work intern at Yachad New England will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of programs and services. The responsibilities will include shadowing staff, researching strategies to inform best practice techniques, and providing therapeutic services to individuals, including developing goals and leading group sessions. The intern will also participate in weekly clinical meetings, present cases, and collaborate with community organizations to plan events. Additionally, the intern will join staff meetings, develop integral communication skills, and work closely with students and staff to schedule and plan events, communicate with families, and assist with technical tasks, all while documenting their work and adapting to schedule changes. Weekend and evening hours required.

     

    Yachad Chicago

    Location of Internship: 8150 McCormick Blvd. suite 228, Skokie, IL 60076 

    Positions Available:  2 interns 
    Schedule: 4 days (inquire about hours, programs & weekend retreats)

    The intern at Yachad Chicago will play a key role in supporting the delivery of programs and services. The responsibilities will include participating in intakes for new participants in collaboration with the Director, supporting participants in various groups and programs throughout the week alongside program staff, and serving as an advisor to participants during weekend retreats/Shabbatons. Additionally, the intern will lead and plan social club activities, providing a fun and engaging experience for participants. Weekend and evening hours required.
